IVU Laboratory
The Interaction, Visualization, Usability & UX Laboratory is about research on Human-Computer Interaction. In particular: Interaction Design, Pervasive systems, Information Visualization, Visual Analytics, Usability Engineering, User eXperience, End-User Development, Serious games, Internet of Things, Usable Security, Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence.
People working in IVU have national and international collaborations, as indicated by the various projects in which they were involved and by their publications.
They have been in the scientific organization of many international conferences, held in Bari or in other locations. The last conferences in Bari were AVI 2016 and INTERACT 2021.

We are proud to announce that Maria Francesca Costabile, founder of the IVU Laboratory and its director until her retirement at the end of December 2024, has been honored with the IFIP TC13 2025 Pioneer Award. The award was conferred during the INTERACT 2025 conference, held in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

Our research group celebrates the recent presentation of the university’s Ethical Review Board. Two of our members played key roles: Prof. Maria Francesca Costabile, president of the committee responsible for drafting the board’s regulations, and Prof. Rosa Lanzilotti, who is part of the Ethical Review Board itself. Their contributions help ensure that research at our university meets high ethical standards.
