Antonio Piccinno wins the 2024 IFIP Service Award!
We are thrilled to announce that our very own Antonio Piccinno has been honored with the prestigious 2024 IFIP Service Award! This remarkable achievement recognizes Antonio’s outstanding contributions to the field of information technology and his dedication to advancing research and innovation.
The ‘IFIP (International Federation for Information Processing) Service Award’ is awarded by the IFIP General Assembly every year in recognition of active roles played by the recipient at an IFIP body or in the organization of an important IFIP event. The Service Awards Committee, when selecting nominations to present them to the IFIP General Assembly, uses the following criteria: roles played by the candidate in IFIP bodies, their duration, and percentage of meetings attended; roles played in organizing IFIP events and importance of those events; Proceedings of IFIP events co-edited by the nominee; as well as other achievements. Antonio Piccinno is currently Associate Professor of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) at the Computer Science Department of the University of Bari Aldo Moro (UNIBA). He received the Laurea Degree in Computer Science with full marks and honors from the University of Bari in 2001. In March 2005 he got the PhD in Computer Science from UNIBA, discussing a thesis titled “Software environments for supporting End-User Development “. Since April 2005, he worked at the Computer Science Department of UNIBA, first as research fellow, next as Assistant Professor and now as Associate Professor. He is founding member of the IVU (Interaction, Visualization, Usability & UX) Lab of the University of Bari, where he coordinates research on the interplay between Human-Computer Interaction and Software Engineering though techniques of End-User Development.
