Air Quality Monitoring

Air Quality Monitoring project is founded by Puglia Region. The project goals are: The IVU group is interested in particular in the item and the goal is to provide an online system capable to collect data provided by the industries about industrial stuff discharged in the air.

Stressafish

The goal of the project is the study of a genetic selection method to improve the quality of a specific fish species. We are involved in the development of a system, which supports the activity of genetic selection, by permitting to automatically acquire biometric data. The system interfaces are designed exploiting advanced visualization techniques, in order to analyze efficiently the huge quantity of data.

E-learning is one of the most interesting research themes. The term e-learning considers the education offered to the professionals by business paradigms and technological tools that are typical of the e-economy. The continuous innovation of the society (in term organizational, economical, technological, etc.) highlights the need not to consider the education as finished at the end of the “regular” study cycle, that can be the diploma, or the degree, or the PhD too. Thus, it is important to develop organizational, methodological and technological infrastructures in order to make possible a continuous education for the professionals who work in the corporations.
The Department of Computer Science of University of Bari is involved in the study of the user interfaces and their usability that will be developed during the three years of the project. Moreover, it can involved in the development of several Learning Objects.

Visualization Techniques to Support Data Analysis

The research aims at the study and the implementation of visualization techniques for analysing and presenting to the users large quantity of data that are today available in distributed systems, also accessible via Web. The focus is on visual techniques that may be used as data mining tools. The idea is to study how information visualization techniques and data mining techniques can be combined so that an important contribution can be given to the emergent and promising discipline that is Visual Data Mining (VDM).
